Immigration evaluations are a process — a stressful, tedious, and often long one. You deserve an evaluator who understands what's at stake, communicates clearly at every step, and delivers thorough work on time.

What a Psychological Immigration Evaluation Is

Thorough, objective assessments — delivered with cultural sensitivity and a prompt turnaround.

A psychological immigration evaluation is a formal written assessment prepared by a licensed mental health professional. Courts and immigration officers use these evaluations to understand the human impact of an immigration decision — the psychological, emotional, and relational consequences for the applicant and their family.

My approach combines clinical rigor with genuine empathy. I take time to understand each client's story, collaborate with their legal team when needed, and produce thorough, well-documented evaluations that support their case effectively.

Throughout the process, I stay in direct communication with both the applicant and their attorney — so nothing important gets missed, and no one is left waiting without an update.

A NOTE ON THE PROCESS

Immigration evaluations are not therapy. They are structured clinical assessments with a specific legal purpose. That said, many clients find the process itself meaningful — having space to tell their full story, often for the first time, with someone who is genuinely listening.

Types of Psychological Immigration Evaluations
in Northern Virginia

Each evaluation type serves a specific legal purpose. Below is an overview of what each assessment involves and who it may be relevant for.

  • These evaluations assess the extreme hardship that family members would experience if separated from the applicant, or the impact on those who would need to relocate. The assessment documents the psychological, emotional, and relational consequences for qualifying relatives.

  • Asylum evaluations focus on understanding why individuals fled their country and the lasting psychological impact of those experiences. This includes making active, documented efforts to hear the individuals full story, and assessing the mental health effects of the trauma they survived.

  • Violence Against Woman Act evaluations assess statements of abuse or battery and document the physical, psychological, and emotional impact on the survivor. These evaluations require a careful, trauma-informed approach and are conducted with sensitivity to the survivor’s experience.

  • U Visa evaluations are available to survivors of certain crimes who have experienced mental or physical abuse and are cooperating with law enforcement. These evaluations document how the crime started or exacerbated a pre-existing psychological condition, supporting the legal certification process.

  • T Visa evaluations are designed specifically for individuals who are survivors of human trafficking or attempted trafficking. Similar in structure to U Visa evaluations, they document the psychological impact of trafficking on the individual and support the visa certification process.
